Since 1895, the men and women of the Pennsylvania Capitol Police have performed their duties to ensure the safety and well-being of the thousands of individuals who work in, and visit, state government buildings and properties on a daily basis.

As the nation's second-oldest state police organization, the Pennsylvania Capitol Police have established and solidified a reputation built on tradition, honor, commitment, integrity, respect and protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth. 

The Pennsylvania Capitol Police is an internationally and domestic accredited law enforcement agency with full arrest powers that investigates all reported crimes within its jurisdiction of state-owned buildings and properties in Harrisburg and Scranton.

The force maintains a 24-hours a day/7 days a week presence in Harrisburg, where they also provide assistance to the city of Harrisburg Police Department and other surrounding local law enforcement agencies.
